You know as a Planner, that contract review & planning work hand in hand, in some businesses this is separated but by keeping them in one team full control is maintained at all times, there is no chasing another department to make sure something has been ordered or no chasing planning to make sure your job is in line because you and your very experienced colleague will do this together.
When the order comes in your thought process as Planner is:
- Can we manufacture in-house? What’s machines need to be used? What’s their capacity?
- Are we going to subcontract elements of the work?
- What Materials do we need? Where will you source them?
- What process does the metal need to go through to achieve the desired outcome?
- What are the timescales?
- Create IPS/MPS's based on the customer requirements
As a Planner, you will be used to a fast-paced manufacturing environment where you are juggling lots of parts, making sure that they all drop into the right place at the right time.
You love speaking to suppliers, always making sure you get the best deal for the company, you know how to get what you want to achieve from your shop floor too!
As Planner, your admin is very strong, you make sure that every conversation is logged, and everything is processed and visible onto the companies MRP system.
